Welcome to The Speaks at Faxton Hall, short term stays blending history with modern comfort to create a truly unique experience. Newly built in a building steeped in history, our two distinct apartments—the Blind Tiger Suite and the Blind Pig Loft—harken back to the Prohibition era, a period marked by bootleggers, speakeasies, and the glitz and glamor of the Roaring 20s.
Experience the charm of the Prohibition era in The Blind Tiger Suite and the Blind Pig Loft- our two speakeasy inspired apartments- located in the historic Faxton Hall in Utica, across the street from the iconic Saranac Brewery. These unique and distinct spaces combine vintage allure with modern comforts to evoke the spirit of the Prohibition Era and the Roaring 20s.
After entering the building, you’ll climb the stairs on the original treads pulled from the basement and refastened to the risers, and pass through the original 8 ft hallway doors, painstakingly restored after finding them hidden away in the attic of Faxton Hall. From there, you’ll find a grand hall with 15 ft ceilings leading to your stay at either the Blind Tiger and the Blind Pig.
Step into the Blind Tiger Suite and find yourself surrounded by the elegance and mystique of a classic speakeasy. Beyond the well-appointed furnishings, including original and repurposed furniture and fixtures, you’ll discover a hidden "speak"—a secret room concealed by a wardrobe. Relax and unwind in your own private bar before heading out for a night (or day) on the town.
The Blind Pig Loft similarly pays homage to the Prohibition Era, with its disguised interior hall door that, (with the right codeword), opens to reveal your own private gin joint. Here you’ll find a lofted master bedroom overlooking the living area below, designed to meld modern comfort with the feel of the Roaring '20s.
Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply looking for a unique getaway, The Speaks at Faxton Hall offers a perfect blend of historical intrigue and modern luxury in downtown Utica NY. Experience a bygone era in either the Blind Tiger Suite or the Blind Pig Loft, both thoughtfully designed to bring the past to life, while providing all the comforts you expect in a modern apartment. When visiting Utica, why not stay in a place that ‘Speaks to you?
